CORINNE
BOREL
A bi-national Swiss and American citizen, Corinne Borel’s
first language is French. She has founded and run Salon
Français for over 10 years, creating an interactive curriculum
with colorful visual aids and systematic audio learning. She has grown
her business with French
Bridges, responding to corporate and non-profits’ requests for on-site
training.
Ms. Borel holds a Business French certificate issued
by the Paris Chamber of Commerce. She translated the book Yemen from
French into English, which was used by Yemenite embassies worldwide to
describe this country.
Along with a Master’s degree from the Monterey Institute
of International Studies, she has held both middle and upper level management
positions in international non-profits and so understands international
development and commerce concerns. Her 3rd language is Spanish.
About the translation:
Ms. Borel worked closely with the author of Yemen, Laurence Deonna, a
Swiss journalist and author of numerous books. Ms. Deonna is renown
for her work on the Middle East, having won the UNESCO Peace Education
Price of 1987. Ms. Deonna created a dramatic large traveling photographic
exhibit for the United Nations’ designated historic preservation city
of Sanaa, Yemen.
This American edition presents stunning photographs,
Arabic poetry translations and frank discussions of women’s issues,
all in good humour. It offers a view of Yemeni life so compelling that
the government of Yemen chose it for educational and diplomatic uses.
